Update of arc flash study and electrical hazard analysis

Project description

As part of a project to replace electrical equipment, the mandate was to update the arc flash study and protection coordination for the entire plant (up to 2.4kV). This comprehensive upgrade, including an on-site technical survey, was made necessary by the replacement of several major pieces of equipment such as transformers and circuit breakers.

Expertise
  • Coordination study
  • Study of arc flashes
Mandate features
  • On-site technical survey of all electrical equipment in the factory.
  • Data update for new transformers, circuit breakers, and motors (2.4kV and 600V).
  • Addition of 2.4kV variable speed drives to the study model.
  • Integration of UPS/IPS systems for emergency lighting and the server room.
  • Modeling of the new debarking line for the lumber yard.
  • Selection of new settings for 600V circuit breaker protection relays.
  • Production of arc flash labels to be affixed to various equipment and devices to ensure worker safety.

Rethinking today's engineering, for tomorrow's world.
